Providence-Benedictine Nursing Center 

Providence-Benedictine Nursing Center (PBNC) in Mount Angel, OR has a primary nursing center, short-stay skilled unit, assisted living facility, and home health agency. During my time at this rotation, I worked primarily worked as a clinical dietitian with a few foodservice projects. 

Some of the projects I completed at this rotation include: ​



  • Conduct a Case Study: This is an ADIME formatted case-study focusing on Mr. WB, a 56-year old gentleman who had undergone bypass surgery and post-operatively experienced several complications, including pressure ulcers. This case study focuses on the nutrition interventions for his medical diagnosis. 



  • Wrote a Nutrition Article: Wrote an article on the use of cranberry juice to treat urinary tract infections supported by evidence-based research and published in the regional Providence Benedictine October newsletter. 



 

  • Presentated on Emerging Research: Wrote and presented a brief research paper on the use of multivitamins in the Long Term Care (LTC) setting with some interesting conclusions. 



  • Developed a 3-Day Menu: Developed 3 days of menus for Regular, Puree and Mechanical Soft diets by utilizing recipes/menus from resident input. Menus had to incorporate food preferences of patients interviewed and be affordable for the LTC setting. 



  • Performed a Quality Assurance Project: Performed a Quality Assurance survey on patient satisfaction for those in the choice menu program. 





  • Charted on patients: Charting samples to be updated.
